Experience Powersports: Experience the Difference!

by Bonnie Stichart

As the seasons change, so do the sports connected with them. Spring and summer usher in motorcycles, dirt bikes, and scooters. Summer opens the lakes to personal watercraft, such as jet skis. Fall sends an alert to hunters to bring out the all-terrain vehicles that transport both hunters and game. Winter snow finally allows snowmobile fans to fire up their machines for both pleasure and transportation.

Where can one find all this seasonal equipment for year-round powersport fun? Where else but Experience Powersports of Moses Lake, Washington.

Bolt-1

Experience Powersports has been in the business of selling and servicing personal powersport equipment since 1998, when it was known as Moses Lake Powersports. Six years ago they moved to the present location near Interstate 90 and changed the name to reflect the years of experience the employees have. The name is also an invitation to everyone to experience powersports for themselves.

Being a powersport enthusiast isn’t a requirement for working at Experience Powersports, but General Manager Derek Smith says all the employees just happen to enjoy a variety of powersports during their after-work hours. This personal involvement helps the employees understand the needs of customers, whether it is finding the perfect vehicle, the right part for a needed repair, or the accessories to make the powersport experience even more enjoyable.

Their full line of accessories can make participating in various powersports more safe. Protective clothing, including helmets, is a must: “We can keep you safe and covered from head to toe,” assured Derek. There are also less necessary – but fun – things, such as t-shirts and hats. KTM has their logo on many items, even dog bowls and toasters. “There’s some crazy stuff!” laughed Derek.

Owner Brett Ochoa, who farms in the Tri-Cities area, knows how practical certain vehicles can be to farmers and ranchers. At the top of the list are ATVs and side-by-sides, also called utility vehicles, or UTVs. He also knows about the fun side of powersports; his whole family is involved in dirt biking. There is even a dirt bike track behind the store, which his sons use when they are done with their chores.

Experience Powersports is a multi-line franchise. This means they carry all the major brands: Yamaha, Kawasaki, Can-Am, Sea-Doo, Ski-Doo, KTM, Husqvarna, and more. Their fully-certified service department can take care of all of these. The service technicians stay up-to-date on technology to ensure your vehicle is up-to-date, too. For those who prefer to do their own maintenance and repairs, the well-stocked parts department can supply what is needed. It’s no wonder that many customers come from all over Eastern Washington, and even from as far away as Montana and Portland, Oregon.

Buying a new powersport vehicle is easy; all the manufacturers provide financing. The sales people can also help customers find a local institution for financing. Experience Powersports takes trade-ins, making used vehicles available for sale. All used vehicles are checked out by the service technicians, who make any needed repairs.

Experience Powersports has a lot invested in the Moses Lake area. They promote local natural attractions such as the sand dunes and, of course, Moses Lake. They also sponsor the high school football team – Go Chiefs! – and the Moses Lake Roundup Rodeo, which takes place in August. One worthwhile charity they support is Youth Outdoors Unlimited (YOU). YOU provides completely paid hunting and fishing adventures for young people diagnosed with life-threatening illnesses or physical disabilities. Right now raffle tickets are being sold at Experience Powersports to benefit YOU. The raffle ends September 12, so act quickly to help young people enjoy the outdoors and have the chance to win a Can-Am Outlander 500L.
