Zack and I decided to have a little lunch date and we were both craving Mexican food. We stopped in at Rancho Alegre and were happily surprised by their amazing food, service, and prices!
What we enjoyed
~Chips with Queso
~Camarones La Mexicana
~Ground Beef Chalupa
We were so hungry we decided to start off with a side of chips and queso. The queso came out steaming hot. It was thick and creamy with soft chunks of chiles and a gorgeous golden color.
For my main entrée, I knew I wanted something with shrimp. The Camarones La Mexicana reminded me of shrimp fajitas with a twist. The dish consisted of sautéed mushrooms, onions, green bell peppers, and shrimp served on a bed of rice and covered in their special, mild sauce. They top it off with cheese, fresh tomato, and avocado, plus you get your choice of tortilla (I like corn).
Everything was so hot and delicious. Because they use a mild sauce, you really get to enjoy the combination of all the flavors without the spice being overpowering.
Zack was having a hard time deciding what to get and then he saw a chalupa and, without further hesitation, that’s what he ordered. The tortilla was fried so it had a nice crunchy crust and it was PACKED with well-seasoned ground beef, lettuce, cheese, sour cream, LOTS of guacamole, and fresh tomato. Zack even added some of the queso on it – he loves to make his own combinations. His dish came with a side of very cheesy refried beans and Spanish rice.
If you are vegetarian, they have a multitude of specially designed dishes, like their Burrito Ranchero. It is stuffed with whole pinto beans, rice, and cheese inside a flour tortilla and served with fresh spinach, tomatoes, onions, cilantro, avocado, and sour cream.
They have a full bar and serve a variety of cocktails, wine, beer, and sangria. They also have a great selection of non-alcoholic but fun beverages like a virgin margarita or virgin piña colada.
The interior of the restaurant is very homey and inviting. At the entrance, inside the restaurant, they have lots of plants hanging everywhere and when you walk in further, the space really opens up with two main dining areas. The staff are very friendly and attentive, but also so fast. We felt like we had merely blinked, and our food had arrived!
Not only are the staff kind and quick and the food amazing but the prices are very reasonable. We went for lunch and for our three dishes and two cokes we only paid $43 (before tip). This is a great place to bring the family and enjoy delicious high-quality food without breaking the bank.
