Zack and I were running errands near North Spokane and stumbled upon the amazing Hop Mountain Tap Room & Grill. They had a FANTASTIC selection of beer and some of the biggest burgers we have ever seen!
What we devoured:
~ Big John Burger with Sweet Potato Fries
~ CBR Wrap with Tater Tots
~ Beer Flight
They have an extensive menu with burgers, wings of every flavor, pizza, and salads/wraps – it was so hard to choose! I ended up ordering the Big John Burger, which definitely lived up to its name. It was loaded with two patties, bacon, ham, Swiss cheese, cheddar cheese, and a fried egg, all served on a huge brioche bun. If you order this, prepare to be messy. The flavors were amazing, the yolk from the egg added a nice richness, the bacon and ham added a sweet hickory flavor, and the burger patties were JUICY! I opted for sweet potato fries with ranch, and they were cooked perfectly, a nice crust on the outside and soft fluffy potato on the inside.
Zack went with the CBR Wrap. It is usually served as a salad but he upgraded it. They packed it with shredded romaine lettuce, jalapenos, bacon, chicken, and cheese, and then tossed it with ranch dressing. The flavors were creamy, fresh, and delicious and even had that little bit of heat that Zack is always looking for. The portions were very generous. Zack’s wrap was so big he couldn’t even finish it, but it made for great leftovers.
On to the beer, they have 21 taps and carry a wide selection of local ales. We couldn’t just choose one, so we decided to try one of their beer flights. For about the price of two beers you can get a beer flight with 6 sampler sized glasses. We decided to go with:
• Mountain Man (Scotch Ale) – Jeremiah Johnson Brewing – Great Falls, MT
• Irish Redhead (Irish Red Ale) – MickDuff’s – Sandpoint, ID
• Hop of Mind (Session IPA) – Humble Abode Brewing – Spokane, WA
• Peanut Butter (Milk Stout) – Belching Beaver Brewing – Vista, CA
• Wild Blackberry (Cider) – OutWest Wines & Ciders – Cheney, WA
• Fluffy Puffy Sunshine (Hazy IPA) – YaYa Brewing – Spokane Valley, WA
The blackberry cider was my favorite. It wasn’t overly sweet and you could totally taste the blackberry flavor. Zack’s favorite was the peanut butter milk stout. We couldn’t believe that it actually tasted just like peanut butter. It was weird and delicious all at the same time. All of the beers were excellent and they have something suited for everyone’s tastebuds.
They have so many unique things that we can’t wait to go back and try, like a deep fried PB&J. Stop by next time your around – you won’t be disappointed.
