The snow season is upon us, which means it’s time to get out your skis and snowboards. If you are headed up to 49 Degrees North this winter, then there is no better place to stop and have breakfast or lunch than Monica’s Buttermilk Kitchen!
What we munched on
~Burnin’ Lover Burger
~Veggie Scramble
The burnin’ lover is one of the newer items on their menu and it’s packed with fried onion, jalapenos, jalapeno aioli, and a JALAPENO POPPER ON TOP! Zack ordered it, but I loved it so much I kept trying to steal bites of it!
My usual is the veggie scramble, but you can also get it as an omelet. It’s filled with onion, mushrooms, spinach, and cheese. You also get hashbrowns and your choice of toast. I love it so much, I always eat the whole thing and then I can’t eat anything else all day.
While we have our usual orders, we come here so often that we like to switch it up sometimes. Some of my other go-to orders are the Rueben or the French toast, to which I add berries and whip cream. Zack loves their Monte Cristo which has oozing, melted cheese and ham between two giant slices of toast, topped with powdered sugar. No matter what you order, you’re guaranteed to love it!
Monica actually makes her own syrup that is like liquid gold! I always put it on my French toast, but you can put it on anything, even biscuits! She sells bottles of it that you can take home.
They offer delicious daily specials and pastries, all made in house. One of my favorite specials is waffles with berries and cream. They are always switching it up – they have even had a crawfish jumbo as a special. They really do provide something for everyone.
The space is quaint and cute. When you walk in the door, there is a podium made out of old license plates from a bunch of different states. The tables and booths are patchwork style – all different, but equally amazing. They even sell art from local artists that they have on display around the restaurant. If you are visiting in the summer months, be sure to sit outside where you can take in breathtaking view of Quartzite Mountain.
We believe it is so important to support small business restaurants, especially ones that are family owned and operated. When you stop by, you are sure to be greeted by Monica and her team as they work diligently to provide this wonderful establishment, a real staple in the Chewelah community.
