Chewelah recently hit the jackpot when Nina’s Thai opened up in the General Store.

What we enjoyed:

Egg Roles

Drunken Noodles with Beef

Chow Mein with Beef

Pork Kra Pao

This was the second time we had dined at Nina’s Thai; however, it was the first time we had the opportunity to have a sit-down dinner instead of ordering takeout. We are happy to report that the food is phenomenal.

It’s been extremely hot, so while I would normally get curry, I opted for a noodle dish. The Drunken Noodles were spicy, chewy, and packed full of tender beef chunks.

Zack ordered the Beef Chow Mein, which he got last time, and it is one of the best things on the menu. It has a delicious umami flavor, and each bite is more addictive than the last.

We also ordered the Pork Kra Pao to try something totally different. It is made with spicy ground pork sautéed with basil, served with steaming-hot white rice, and topped with a fried egg. We got the egg over-hard because we don’t love runny yolks. However, I have a feeling it would be like carbonara pasta, adding rich creaminess to the dish.

Not only is the food absolutely divine, but the prices are extremely reasonable. There is no upcharge for different types of protein, even shrimp!

We sat at the bar with our friend. The barstools are extremely comfortable, and the bartender, Jack, will take good care of you. They have an excellent selection of beer and wine, including wine-based margaritas.

Of course, no dinner is complete without some dessert. They serve ice cream cones. I got a scoop of cotton candy in a waffle cone, and Zack got a double scoop of chocolate and mint chip. The ice cream was delectable and the perfect way to end the dinner.

Chewelah has needed a new spot like this, and it checks all the boxes. Next time you’re in town, make sure to stop by and show them some love.
